The firm was established in 1986 under the name & style of M/s Jagdish Dinesh Shah & Co, at Vadodara (Formerly known as Baroda), Gujarat. It was registered with Western India region of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi (Registration No 103824W). 

Initially Jagdish Shah & Dinesh Shah were partners. Vihang Bakshi joined the firm in July 2001. After that name of firm changed to M/s Shah Mehta & Bakshi. Other partners joined were Bhavana Patel in 2004 and Prashant Upadhyay in 2009.
